Eli and Daniel, two Korean American brothers, own a struggling shoe store and have an unlikely friendship with Kamilla, a street-wise 11-year-old African-American girl. Kamilla ditches school, Eli stresses about the store, and Daniel tries to have a good time. It's just another typical day at the store until the Rodney King verdict is read and the LA riots break out on April 29th, 1989. With the chaos moving towards them, the trio is forced to defend the store while contemplating the future of their own personal dreams and the true meaning of family.



Eli和Daniel是两个韩裔美籍兄弟，他们俩苦苦挣扎着维系自家鞋店的经营，并与一个流浪街头，名叫Kamilla的11岁非裔美籍女孩有着不太一样的友谊。Kamilla逃课，Eli对自己店铺经营充满压力，Daniel想着寻开心。1989年4月29日，本来只是鞋店又一个寻常的日子，但在那天，宣判了Rodney King案件的判决，洛杉矶骚乱爆发了。随着混乱走向他们，三人被迫捍卫商店，同时思考自己个人梦想的未来和家庭的真正意义。


It's an indie-film and it's original in the way CLERKS and RESERVOIR DOGS were back in their day, but it's not especially amazing and lacks any sort of 'WOW FACTOR'  to keep it from becoming forgettable in the future, but a good start for a first time director getting their feet wet. It will be interesting to see how Justin Chon develops as a filmmaker and what he puts out next. GOOK does indeed burn with a young artist's raw intensity thanks to the cast who really carry the film well, however the paper thin script and premise simply aren't enough to give this a higher score. [5/10]



这是一部独立电影，它的原创性犹如回到了《疯狂店员》和《落水狗》的时代，但这部电影并没有很经验，它缺乏那些能让人惊叹并在日后让人难忘的因素，但是作为一部首次涉足导演的人执导的电影，这是一个好的开始。看着Justin Chon发展成为一个电影制片人而后又将怎么发展是非常有趣的。由于演员们的完成度非常好，《韩国佬》确实很好地展示了这名年轻艺人的真实水平，然而剧本的薄弱和设定断定了这部电影不能得到更高的分数。[我的评分：5/10]
